Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth (Tips for Choosing an Android Phone) Review Your Review Android devices have evolved considerably since the first release by Google and HTC in 2008. There are many things to consider if you are taking the plunge into the Android world. If it all seems like too much, at least keep the following in mind when choosing a device: • Support: Confirm your organization's support policy, and test the functionality of the smartphones with the policies in place. • Battery Life: Ensure you purchase a dual-core device with the smallest screen needed for day-to-day use. This will minimize battery consumption. • Speed: Avoid 4G LTE devices unless you need the extra download and upload speeds. • Operating System: Ensure a minimum Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) for smartphones and Android 3.x (Honeycomb) for tablets. Most important, ensure your device can be upgraded to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Three devices to consider as a starting point for comparison are the Samsung Galaxy S II, the HTC One S and the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX. However, regardless of choice, make sure there is an appropriate return and exchange policy so you can test the device for at least two weeks and switch if necessary. Recorded Webinar: Is Android Ready for the Enterprise? Choosing a smartphone is about more than coverage areas and family-and-friends dialing circles; the big drivers are functionality and ease of use. While Android has been activating devices at a rapid pace, there has been a lack of consensus about which device to get behind. In many respects, there have been too many options available, and that has been an obstacle for Android adoption. Some users have opted to stay with the limited, but familiar, BlackBerry platform, while others have jumped to the easy-to- use iPhone. With the introduction of Android 4.0 — aka, Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) — enterprise users may be ready to take the Android plunge. During this webinar, we'll take a look at the features of Android ICS and why they might convince you to put down your BlackBerry, walk past the Apple Store and leap into your new Android experience. Note: The presenter for this webinar is a developer, not a pundit. His views are personal opinion, and they may differ from yours.
