SET TIME ZONES WITH THE COMMAND PROMPT Firms now work across time zones with more frequency. You can use Windows 7 and the Command Prompt to quickly set or list all time zones. Display the Command Prompt and type tzutil /l and press Enter to list all available time zones. For help on working with time zones, type tzutil /? and press Enter. While you could also go to your Internet site of choice and look up the current time on a world clock, it just doesn’t have the same “coolness” factor as knowing how to accomplish the same thing through the Command Prompt. Basically, once you start recording (by clicking a button), the tool records everything you do, along with screenshots of what is showing on your desktop until you click Stop Record. It then saves all the screenshots and information into an HTML file stored within a .zip file. The Problem Steps Recorder toolbar will display near the top of your window with five options (Start Record, Stop Record, Add Comment, a timer and Settings). When you are ready to begin reproducing the steps to demonstrate the problem, just click Start Record and go through the process to replicate the problem. At any time, you can click Add Comment, which prompts you to highlight text to be commented on, then you can type a comment. When you are finished reproducing the steps, click Stop Record. The Save As dialog box will appear, and the Desktop is the default location to save the file. Name the file, which is saved as a .zip file. You can review it by double- clicking directly on the file and opening it; or, if you would like to send the file through e-mail directly from the Problem Steps Recorder, click the Settings drop-down arrow at the end of the toolbar and choose the option Send to e-mail recipient from the menu. The tips provided here are ones that might be the most useful or different from what is found elsewhere; but, as you can imagine, I’ve only scratched the surface here, as there are oodles of tips and tricks on Windows 7. With what is proving to be a solid operating system, Microsoft got this one right. ILTA
