TJ JOHNSON ILTA ILTA’s 2011 SharePoint for Legal Symposium Is Huge Success I 58 LTA’s annual SharePoint for Legal Symposium provides what is widely understood to be the best opportunity for attendees to delve into SharePoint topics in an intimate setting and take valuable information back to their law firms for their SharePoint planning. This year, over 175 ILTA members from 100 firms came together in Downers Grove, Illinois in mid-June for two days of SharePoint education. Attendees ranged from law firm directors and managers (80 percent) to SharePoint analysts and specialists, and a few attorneys. Most came from IT departments, and there were also attendees from knowledge management, project management, administration, finance, training and litigation and practice support departments. Portal Platforms ILTA White Paper SESSION DETAILS AND HIGHLIGHTS The success of the symposium was evident in the conversations among attendees, focusing on sharing their stories and learning from each other. Content for the conference was developed by ILTA’s Desktop and Applications Services Peer Group and included myriad SharePoint topics. There was a focus on SharePoint as a DMS with early adopter results and case studies from Clifford Chance and Miller Johnson. Discussions on the future of SharePoint centered on new strategies and innovations for law firms. Case studies were presented by Baker & McKenzie on “global content targeting,” Fish & Richardson P.C. on “upgrading to SharePoint 2010,” Baker & Daniels on “intranet redesigns” and Thompson Coburn LLP on “records
