That's just part of deciding to deploy the iPhone. Understand it up front as part of your decision to use and support the device. What's Next We are digging deeper into leveraging the Citrix receiver for the iPhone to develop our own client-side applications to publish to users. Our existing software vendors are working on, or we are pushing them to work on, applications that could be directly available on the iPhone as well. We are working with XenDesktop as the next release of our thin client solution using Citrix. The Citrix receiver for the iPhone will allow users to use their Sonnenschein corporate desktop (XenDesktop) from the iPhone, Mac or PC. Finally, this is also the first device that blends the personal computing experience with corporate. Following the logic with the IRU procurement policy, there is the potential to allow a user to purchase the type of computer they like best and leverage our XenDesktop solution while in the office. But that's a topic for another article. By the way, I am writing the closing to this article in Word 2007 published through the Citrix App receiver on my iPhone while I ride the train. I wouldn't want to author an entire document on the device, but having the full fidelity of Word 2007 to proofread the document while on the train sure is nice. Maybe I will watch a movie next. Four Ways to destroy an iPhone Forces of nature are out to get your iPhone. Never fear, there are ways to avoid ruining your precious baby. Water Water will kill your iPhone. Avoid it. If your iPhone is submerged in water, Apple technicians will see a red line on the base of the phone where the charger attaches. This will indicate to them that all of your warranties are void. Keep your phone away from the swimming pool and washing machine. Electricity The 12-volt electrical system in your car could send a power surge to your iPhone. The good news is that the iPhone dock connector acts as a protective layer to the main board, so a small power surge will probably just fry the dock connector. You'll need an inexpensive dock connector replacement. A big power surge can make it to the main board. Use a brand- name charger, and try not to have your iPhone plugged in when starting or turning off your engine. Gravity They're slippery, those iPhones. Luckily, their screens can be replaced. Buy a case and a screen shield if you tend to be clumsy. Children It didn't "just stop working." They dropped the phone in the pool. Keep your eyes on your phone. ILTA
