THE ENTIRE SERIES OF HANNAH SWENSEN MYSTERIES THE OCEAN AT THE END OF THE LANE These are all murder mysteries, and the lead character owns a bakery, so different recipes (mainly desserts) are interspersed throughout all the books. The books are light reads and, since I love to cook, I'm anxious to try some of the recipes. This is a wonderful short novel cloaked to look like fantasy but is really about the magic and danger of childhood. The protagonist returns to his childhood home for a funeral, and it conjures up the memories of his youth. — Jeanne Martinez, ILTA — Angela Dowd, Burns & Levinson, LLP WOOL OMNIBUS For fans of sci-fi, post-apocalyptic stories, I can't recommend "Wool Omnibus" highly enough! The author is self-published, which usually makes me shy away (bad writing, poor editing, etc.), but not in this case. This book was exciting, engaging and entertaining. Do yourself a favor and read it! THE SIGNAL AND THE NOISE: WHY SO MANY PREDICATIONS FAIL — BUT SOME DON'T Nate Silver gained fame by accurately predicting the 2008 presidential campaign winner in 49 of 50 states. This book details his probabilistic approach to forecasting, using real-life examples such as the weather, poker and global warming. Throughout, he attempts to answer the question, will big data make life more predictable? — Kate Evert, Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP — Brian Donato, Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP I needed a laugh, and this book hit the mark. This is a memoir about Jenny's life and her struggles with anxiety, depression and infertility. Starting with her childhood in Wall, Texas with a taxidermy-loving, armadillo-wrestling father, slightly off-kilter mother and younger sister, Jenny explores issues that we can all relate to: identity, love and self-acceptance. Jenny doesn't hold back, so be warned if you're easily offended by foul language and sensitive subjects.
