push information such as a company newsfeeds, trouble ticket statuses and links to intranet or SharePoint sites. available for iOS and Android. In three years, the Windows Phone Marketplace has come a long way and now boasts over 120,000 apps, and it seems more and more popular apps are making their sluggish way over to the WP platform. But it's still a far cry from the nearly one million apps available in the Apple or Google stores. The truth is that even though I get disappointed when I hear "now available for iOS and Android devices," I'm mostly content with the apps I do have available, and I continue to celebrate my MS Office apps and native integration with business tools, such as SharePoint. • Lync. Lync can be used for instant messaging, presence, people searches and conference calls via WP8 with Microsoft Lync Server or Lync services on Office 365. I haven't been able to test this yet, but I look forward it. WHAT'S TO HATE (OR LACKING)? • The (Lack of) Adoption. If only I could get everybody to use a Windows Phone … there would be more apps, more push for enterprise setup and support, and we could leverage more features, like Rooms and Company Hub. But, alas, the Windows Phone has painfully little of the total mobile market. According to recent market share data from Kantar Worldpanel, Windows Phone passed the five percent mark (during February, March and April) in the U.S. mobile market. While that's a pretty big jump over previous periods, there's a long way to go. • The (Lack of) Apps. Still one of the biggest gripes about WP8 is the lack of apps, especially compared to the number • The (Lack of) Accessories. This one is petty, I know. But, just once, I would love to see a cute phone case made for a Windows Phone. My poor phone gets terribly beat up because I don't have a case for it. WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE ME? What was true three years ago is still true today: I live in a Microsoft world by day and a Facebook world by night, so I'm keeping my Windows Phone. Next I'd like to trade in my iPad for a Surface Pro … I'll take PowerPoint over Instagram on my tablet any day!
