92 R olling out Microsoft Teams in a law firm is not a simple plug- and-play exercise. At first, it feels closer to plug-and- play, test-and-test-again, and ultimately evolves into a smooth click, adopt, and collaborate process. After navigating policy creation, security assessments, and iterative implementations, as well as naming conventions (and re-conventions), and even occasional debates over policy structure, the firmwide adoption of Teams finally becomes a reality. The big question in this conversation is how to motivate people to adopt and use Teams. START WITH A PRACTICAL PROJECT. You will want to avoid hypothetical exercises as a starting point. Instead, engage users with a practical project that includes some of their daily tasks. You can set up a Teams channel, create folders for documents, add a task list, and integrate a few tools, such as Planner or OneNote. Consider building templates for meeting agendas and notes to reduce confusion. Think of Planner as your digital assistant that remembers details and provides gentle task reminders. Building a task list with Planner is a great starting point. When the environment is structured, organized, and inviting, you have set the ideal stage for adoption. CREATE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR TEAM MEMBERS TO EXPLORE. During the kickoff meeting, you can share your screen and say something like, "Welcome to Teams. Feel free to click around. It's nearly impossible to break - and if something happens, IT has your back." You want to lighten the mood, defuse fears, and encourage curiosity. Let them know that it is safe to explore folders, open tasks, and edit documents collaboratively. When you hear feedback like, "Wow, this is kind of intuitive," you will know that you are on the right path. Keep encouraging users to try, test, and explore.
