elanie Prevost is the Senior
Director of Infrastructure and
Technical Support Services at
Vinson & Elkins. Throughout
her career, Melanie followed
advice from her grandmother:

her team. Everyone has a role, and every role is
necessary for a team to be successful.
Melanie works with her team to plan and implement
Pe e r D a t a c e n t e r s t o s u p p o r t t h e t e c h n i c a l
infrastructure outside of their offices. They built the
firm's server structure, including virtual machines,
network infrastructure and telecommunications in
multiple geographically colocation centers. Melanie
and her team operate office production systems in
each of these colocation centers, rotating twice a
year between the centers. This rotation ensures that
the systems in each location work properly. The bi-
yearly switch became the team's disaster recovery
testing method and prepared them to respond to the
Covid-19 pandemic with rapid, effective precision.
