ILTA Awards

Nominee / L I F E T I M E A C H I E V E M E N T A W A R D Melanie has volunteered with ILTA for over 17 years, over which she brought her signature inclusive ideology to the roles she filled within ILTA's community. Melanie attended her first ILTACON in 2007. Shortly after, she accepted a volunteer role as the Houston Member Liaison. She volunteered in that role through 2017, when she joined the Relationship Management Team who coordinated the Member Liaisons and the Women Who Lead (WWL) Advisory Committee. Her ten years of ML experience helped ensure that Women Who Lead content was planned and delivered to the local ILTA membership. Coordinating local training meetings provided the opportunity for legal business professionals to attend meetings during the lunch hour at no cost to them or their employers. The mix of technical and soft skills presentations attracted a diverse audience and increased participation in these sessions. M e l a n i e i s p a s s i o n a t e a b o u t s h a r i n g h e r p r o fe s s i o n a l experiences and knowledge with others. She speaks at Vinson & Elkins events, as well as others like LegalWeek, Cowen Cafe, and recently to ILTA staff. She is adept in covering topics related to women's empowerment, imposter syndrome, and work/life balance. Through ILTA, Melanie made lifetime friendships and gained mentors who were genuinely invested in her professional success. Those connections led to one of the most important milestones of her ILTA career, being on the discussion group which created and recommended the ILTA Core Value to "Foster diversity, equity and inclusion" throughout the ILTA community. Melanie strives to meet every core value when planning ILTA events for the Women Who Lead Advisory group. She looks forward to continuing to provide uplifting content for future events.
