In orientation programs for new joiners, consider having content creators each set aside a designated office hour during the program to field questions and build connections. Reinforce Learning. Look for opportunities to flip the training so participants can teach what they have learned. For example, in orientation programs for new joiners, participants could be randomly assigned to teams to present on a mini-assignment at a live group training session. Each team could share how they approached the mini-assignment, what worked well, what was challenging, and their most significant aha moment. Kindle a growth mindset. Use hands-on activities, gamification, and group discussion to promote knowledge retention. Studies suggest that as much as 90% of information is forgotten within 30 days, and 70% of that loss happens within the first 24 hours. After one month, active learners retained 93.5% of previously learned information compared to only 79% for passive learners.
