An Amazing Race intranet page hosted race resources, including a training video, team rosters, information on in- office support, as well as daily progress updates. Amazing Race participants had easy access to the standing of their teams, sign-ups for live training, view of completed surveys, a list of "Front Runners" who had completed the race, and the scavenger hunt – the option to participate for business professionals and attorneys who were not assigned matter surveys to complete. This inclusive element, which allowed all employees to be part of a team and the event, was so popular that, by request, we created a second scavenger hunt on the fourth day of the race. Racers were having fun while learning to navigate and find information in our experience tool. The race team worked collaboratively and tirelessly the week of the event, assisting race participants with information and support during the day; analyzing results and updating information and graphics into the late evening; and ensuring intranet content was updated and emails distributed early the next day to avoid interruptions during prime business hours. Our data coordinator followed up with participants to ensure the highest quality of data was available in Foundation. Data and Innovation team members traveled to provide in-office support and meet enthusiastic participants in our offices. Results and Lessons Learned At the conclusion of the Amazing Race, we had exceeded our goals for the event: • More than 700 employees logged into Foundation during Amazing Race week to contribute to and explore our experience database. • 609 surveys were completed by almost 400 attorneys with rich descriptions and details on some of the firm's most valuable experience. Together, the matters represented almost a year's worth of firm revenue and 800,000 hours of work. • We updated almost 600 matter types and 300 matter industries, using a new industry taxonomy. Having this data available in Foundation provides better answers, faster, for our clients and internal teams, including pitching and pricing. • 321 Scavenger Hunts were submitted by 220 unique business professionals. The hunt demonstrated some of the key information easily accessible in Foundation, and how to generate reports from the data. The two scavenger hunts focused on different types of searches and reports, maximizing the education potential of the exercises, and preparing our team to support requests in the future. • Emails sent during the week of the event reached an open rate of 88-94%. In addition, feedback by FBT attorneys and business professionals was extremely positive. They appreciated that the event was designed to involve all teammates across offices, practices, and job titles, with our Chief IDEB Officer calling it a model of inclusion and belonging.
