99 I L T A N E T . O R G In the Exec Summary we noted the sea change in "Cloud Philosophy" based on answers to the tech survey questions. The survey results show that lawyers were on average more cloud-averse until 2020. The overall Cloud philosophy trend is now "Cloud with every upgrade" - 41%, "Mostly in the cloud" - 24% and "Not yet comfortable with Cloud" - 7%. We noted that "Every solution located in the cloud or being migrated to the cloud within the next 12 months increased significantly over the past year. "To the point above, you now have the support of the ILTA community and all the law firms who take the survey, to stop talking "If" and start talking "When", as in when to start moving to the cloud or when to embrace a Cloud First philosophy. You might use the question around your firm's backup plans in the event your on-prem systems can't be sustained. It seems to me the risk management pendulum has swung in the cloud direction and will continue to do so. Mobile Devices "What happened in the last year that made mobile devices stand out so much from the year before, on the following chart? The question asked both years was "During the Work-From-Home mandate, what functionality, tools, or technologies have been most helpful with collaboration between your firm's team members (lawyers or staff)?" I don't know that I've ever seen such a jump, up or down, in an answer set on this survey." Our theory is that, when COVID was new and people were stationary, mobile devices weren't necessary. In the ensuing time, our users became more mobile, but didn't go into the office, and then mobile devices permitted the freedom to be on a hiking trail, at the beach house, on bike (hope not) or just somewhere that wasn't their home office. 2% 8% 3% 43% 54% 2% 68% 94% 5% 9% 32% 35% 57% 59% 81% 94% 0% 25% 50% 75% 100% Other Co -editing (O365, Goo gl e Docs, etc .)
