63 I L T A N E T . O R G • ILTA councils, tasks forces, committees, and team insights to learn what changes can be made to improve collaboration and processes among their groups. Since the VLTF's February update (see the Spring 2021 Issue of Peer to Peer), the following are additional areas being explored for potential inclusion within their recommendations to the ILTA Board: • Introducing member and business partner committees and success teams that provide useful resources and reliable touch point support to ensure new and existing members and business partners understand their community benefits to optimize value and lasting connections. • Integrating business partners throughout various ILTA volunteer roles so the community may benefit from their leadership, insight, and educational content contributions. • Creating a Volunteer Council to ensure ILTA's volunteer core engine remains vibrant, engaged, challenged, and rewarded. • Finding ways to fulfill the increasing roles needed to maintain the organization as we expand into new international regions. • Transforming the current Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force to a formal committee to ensure the organization's continued strength comes from the dedication, experience, talents, and perspectives of our diverse constituents. • Providing clear volunteer pathways that outline responsibilities, terms, time commitments, and any skills required using visual aids that are easy to navigate with a more simplified and streamlined application process. • Clearly identifying and expanding micro volunteering roles for those that are new to volunteering or seeking short term opportunities. • Recommending a Leadership Development Committee to provide enhanced professional skills and mentoring opportunities to ILTA constituents who are looking to grow their leadership capacities (not just with a focus on developing future Board leaders). • Exploring the possibilities of having a committee solely focused on engaging members, to connect members with similar skill sets, questions and needs by providing topic driven networking opportunities through in person or virtual meetups. • Creating an Events committee to manage the increased emphasis, frequency, and changing needs digital events require – which will focus on increasing ILTA's agility to deliver timely, relevant, and actionable content, networking opportunities for maximum nimbleness, and continued revenue generation. • Designing volunteer group collaboration pathways where ILTA's programming, engagement, networking, and event committees interconnect to meet every member's individual and continually evolving needs as and when needed. • Balancing needs and filling gaps to better utilize and clarify staff roles in the expanded organizational structure as their roles become more vital in moving initiatives forward. There is much work to be completed as the VLTF's next steps involve using the information gathered to craft visual aids, a detailed narrative, and a proposed volunteer structure that encompasses myILTA to present to the Board of Directors in August 2021. The VLTF's recommendations will not be final but, instead, the beginning of a long journey of self- improvement in service of the ILTA community. Special thanks to Sandy Mikita for her leadership efforts and writings around the volunteer structure initiative!
