P E E R T O P E E R : I L T A ' S Q U A R T E R L Y M A G A Z I N E | S U M M E R 2 0 1 9 61 T his year at ILTACON, we're reimagining the three Collaboration Sessions to deliver a consistent, action- oriented, collaboration-driven experience for each of our target audiences and we'd like your help. We're asking a select group of ILTA business partners to lead three Collaboration Sessions this year (on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday). The sessions are designed by our friends at Filament to help our attendees get the most from their peers at ILTACON. Each facilitator will get a "meeting in a box" version of each session, with exercises, instructions, and guide so the facilitation isn't such a heavy lift as it might be if everyone was left to their own devices. Though we'll have more details as we continue to build out each Collaboration Session, here's the overview of each: Sunday || Engage & Plan You'll work with your new peers and familiar faces to identify your ideal ILTACON game plan while sharing the challenges you're here to solve, the opportunities you've identified for learning and growth, and the questions you'd love answers to. As part of this session, you'll also help create a newcomer's guide to ILTACON that will help us all learn to see the conference through new eyes — even for those who've been coming for years. Tuesday || Understand & Ideate Join your peers in exploring the topic of disruption following our keynote from Tuesday morning. We will take an audience-specific look at disruption, exploring questions such as: • How does our work change if/when disruption happens? • What do we hope will be true? • What do we fear will be true? • What do we do to prepare for disruption in our industry? • What lessons were learned from the panel that relate to our group? • What do we need to start doing and stop doing? • What should you do/focus on the rest of the week at ILTACON to help you prepare? Thursday || Decide & Activate Before packing up and heading home, we'll convene once more to share lessons learned and ideas found. We'll also deliver a "tool box" full of innovation-focused exercises and activities that are custom- built for ILTACON that will help you prioritize your next steps, implement them with your team members, and identify and engage change advocates across your organization. Finally, we'll introduce ILTA resources to keep you connected to your problem-solving peers all year long. Please let Gaynor Senyszyn gaynor@iltanet.org know by July 12 if you are interested in facilitating the collaboration sessions. Please also provide us with the name of the person who will be facilitating all three of the sessions. Sincerely, David Hobbie and Julie Brown ILTACON 2019 Co-Chairs Collaboration Sessions Join us for Law Firm 101 series at ILTACON, Thursday, August 22 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This is a fact and fun-filled series of sessions to help people new in law firms understand the business context and the vocabulary of a law firm. We will have three dedicated sessions focused on the history of law and lawyers: the practice of law with its roles and responsibilities; the business of law and where the money comes from; and technology in law firms, current and future. There will be clear takeaways from each session to help you be more successful as you integrate into a law firm L E A R N M O R E LawFirm 101 Series at ILTACON! N E W F O R 2 0 1 9 !
