Office 365 file plan offers advanced methods for: automating your data governance plan, monitoring for compliance, and easy updating as your organization evolves. Immutable labels Some firms might need to comply with regulations such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Exchange Act, Rule 17a-4, which requires that after a retention policy is turned on, it cannot be turned off, removed from content or made less restrictive. To meet this requirement, you can use Preservation Lock or Regulatory Record labels. After a policy's been locked, no one—including the administrator—can turn off the policy or make it less restrictive. Establishing a well-defined information architecture is a key starting point. Before you can act on, and comply with your data governance obligations, you need to have a framework in place to support the management of the data.
