41 WWW.ILTANET.ORG | ILTA WHITE PAPER LITIGATION AND PRACTICE SUPPORT When You Wish Upon a Vendor process is clunky and very inconsistent between jurisdictions. While option one seems easier (at least for the most common file types), option two will be necessary in the future. Data volumes continue to become more nebulous and don't fit well within the four corners we have created as standard. » Ed Hickey, O'Melveny & Myers: I continue to be interested in technology that can identify number paerns for social security numbers to make preliminary redactions. Along the same lines, I would be interested in technology that can auto-redact account numbers if redacted once in a document. » Fang Wong, Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP: I'd like a decent native redaction tool. » Andrew Haslam: Have a buon marked "Production." (Removes tongue from cheek.) Make the production process easier. » Ben Suess: I want a utility to scrub Bates numbers from images and refooter them with intelligence –– not just clipping the boom, but identifying the Bates number location and scrubbing it. » Ron Nakashima, Farella Braun + Martel: Many of our technology clients use Adobe InDesign, but there's no simple way to review or TIFF these files. We'd love someone to develop a free viewer for them. Project Management Project management has been a buzz phrase in the industry for several years. Litigation support professionals have studied project management and received project management certifications, but the soware has not kept up. Many folks wish for beer project management tools that tie into both law firm billing and ediscovery systems and that provide reporting from the initial legal hold through trial. » Chris Acosta and Genesis Alejandro, Nossaman LLP: We'd like dedicated project management practice support/litigation support soware that tracks and creates an audit trail for cases. It would create logs of cases, projects, time and media. It would archive documents and communications regarding projects. It could also generate time entries and link to the time entry system. » Sheila Mackay, Conduent: Most review platforms have dashboard functionality that allows users to view various metrics associated with their ediscovery projects. While useful for single maers or across cases when a single platform is used, in reality, most corporations and law firms use multiple review tools and, therefore, have manual processes for comprehensive reporting. Multi- maer, cross-platform, unified reporting would provide important information for weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports to management or clients. » Richard Ito, State of California Office of the Aorney General: My ideal project management application would track everything related to litigation support and ediscovery throughout I haven't found a good, consistent process for attorneys to use native files in court filings, at depositions or at trial.
