www.iltanet.org 80 Peer to Peer inside ilTA biller. We create extra invoices in case an attorney needs a copy. It often comes off like I'm speaking a foreign language when trying to explain why I shouldn't send "the exact document that was sent to the client." Often I'll get invoice copies back on e-bills that say "reverse this invoice and reissue with a new address" when address data isn't transmitted on an e-bill. Even with a wide variety of interfaces, most e-billing formats adhere to the standards recommended by the LEDES Oversight Committee, an independent advisory board which represents law firms, in-house counsel and software vendors. Although the committee can only recommend, it is effective in ensuring that the transition of legal billing data is uniform. There's no need to completely reinvent the wheel each time a new client or vendor comes along. I would encourage ILTA members to join the LEDES Oversight Committee. Information on membership can be found at http://www.ledes.org. Many thanks to the 333 responding law firms and law departments whose collective input allows us to demonstrate the effect of the recession on IT staff sizes, benefits, service levels and more. We also gauge the collective mood regarding the future. And there are articles describing how one training department recovered after losing staff, how to motivate employees without spending big bucks and more.
