While early business adoption has largely been pursued by consumer- focused companies, this trend is shifting as social media becomes more accepted and widely used. The nature of communication between employees, clients and counterparties continues to evolve. Corporations are engaging people through every Corporate Law Departments ILTA White Paper social media channel, using smartphones and tablets more frequently and interacting as they never have before. In fact, IT research and advisory firm Gartner predicts that by 2014, social networking services will replace email for interpersonal business communications for 20 percent of business users.
