14 into the law firm environment by beginning with participants nominated by practice group leaders and including influential partners, including the firm's managing partner in the first cohort and key leaders in the second, signaling organizational buy-in. Incentives reinforce this commitment; participants receive CLE credit and firm-recognized training hours, which are bonus- eligible for associates. The curriculum integrates technical literacy with an ethical foundation that evolves in response to technological advancements, industry trends, and through built-in feedback loops. Lawyers learn how gen AI systems work, how to audit their outputs, and the limits inherent in probabilistic models. Mindful of barriers to change, the training normalizes participants' experience of skepticism and transforms it into a productive pathway for learning and adoption. But most central was the principle that what was learned was to be applied in real-time, in a group. By training in consecutive cohorts, the program facilitated peer-to-peer engagement, diverse discussions, and task-based exercises. Participants brainstorm use cases, practice advanced prompting, and receive feedback through consistent breakout groups, individual consultations, and systematic presentations of successful applications. THE ROLE OF INCLUSIVE DESIGN Rigorous training grounded in applied learning theory equips lawyers with the knowledge and social validation to overcome skepticism and adopt innovations. When paired with inclusive design, training can be accessible to all lawyers, regardless of their learning style, neurotype, or work constraints. We designed Stradley Labs carefully to offer a balance of synchronous and asynchronous presentation, including pre- and post-session assignments, and easily accessible web-based resource pages, thereby freeing up group time for interactive learning. This includes encouragement to weigh in via live chat and Viva Engage conversations embedded in the course website, for those who may prefer not to speak out loud in a group. We also maintain high interactivity by offering a high percentage of virtual sessions, as well as hybrid options for all in-person training. This creates options for learners to engage from whatever environment is most conducive to their learning, location and work schedule, and also offers accessibility options, such as closed captioning, which can be an aid to those who need amplification due to hearing or linguistic processing limitations. Often, we think that the key to engagement is being in the same physical space. Many people indeed thrive in this way, which is why we also offer in-person opportunities with Stradley Labs. But simply co-locating a group of people does not alone forge connection and growth. What works is the chance to strive together to meet a challenge. Stradley Labs creates spaces for this by training cohorts that come together, mostly MORE ONLINE Read more about AI for legal technologists. https://epubs. iltanet.org/i/1533864- spring25 รณ PEER TO PEER PRACTICAL AI FOR LEGAL TECHNOLOGISTS REAL-WORLD APPLICATIONS AND INSIGHTS ILTA'S QUARTERLY MAGAZINE PEER TO PEER MAGAZINE / SPRING 2025 / ISSUE 1 / VOLUME 41
