In days filled with back-to-back meetings and overflowing to-do lists, uninterrupted work time becomes a rare luxury. Blocking dedicated time in your calendar for deep work is not just about productivity. It is a practical strategy to reduce stress, reclaim autonomy over your schedule, and increase confidence in managing your workload. Treat these blocks with the same respect you would client meetings, and communicate their importance to your team. CALENDAR FOCUS BLOCKS 4 Late nights are sometimes unavoidable in legal practice. When working after hours, Night Light mode on PCs and iPhones filters blue light and shifts to a warmer hue, reducing eye strain and helping maintain healthy sleep patterns. On Windows PCs, access this feature by going to Settings > Display. On iPhones, navigate to Settings >Display & Brightness > Night Shift, where you can schedule activation times or turn it on manually. NIGHT LIGHT MODE TO REDUCE BLUE LIGHT EMISSION 5 CREATING A CULTURE OF TECH WELLNESS While individual practices matter, the most significant benefits emerge when firms develop a culture that supports tech wellness. At Kelley Drye, we find that leadership modeling of these behaviors, along with explicit discussions about technology boundaries during onboarding, has accelerated adoption across the firm. The most effective approach combines technological solutions with cultural reinforcement. When everyone understands that status messages will be respected, focus time blocks honored, and after-hours emails can wait until morning, the entire organization, from senior partners to support staff, experiences reduced stress and improved work quality. What tech wellness practices have you found effective at your firm? The legal technology community benefits when we share effective strategies. Consider implementing these five simple techniques and watch how they transform your team's relationship with technology from a source of stress to a wellbeing enabler.
