Strategy, Kathryn DeBord discovers new
ways to employ technology and support
legal professionals as they redefine
a n d m o d e r n i z e l e g a l p r a c t i c e a n d
service delivery. Building on her earlier
experience, Kathryn provides leadership
for DISCO teams as they envision practical ways to
employ GenAI in litigation to drive efficiencies and
surface insights, ultimately leading to a different and
better way of practicing law.
Kathryn began her legal career as a trial attorney at
Kirkland and Ellis, LLP, following a position as a CIA
analyst. In 2014, she made a pivotal vocational shift
from her position as a litigation partner at Bryan
Cave Leighton Paisner to pioneer the firm's Global
Chief Innovation Officer role. Here, she led the firm's
international cross-disciplinary team of lawyers,
technology leaders, and related professionals to
create and implement innovative strategies and new
technologies to improve legal services. A true visionary,
Kathryn recognized that legal practice was on the cusp
of modernization via technological advancements,
regardless of whether lawyers liked the idea. She
wanted to ensure that Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner
was at the forefront of the legal sector's evolution into
the digital age.
