Perspectives on Relevance and Impact of DEI Policies
Survey respondents shared a range of perspectives on the relevance and impact of DEI
policies. Some respondents expressed support for ILTA's DEI efforts and encouraged continued
progress, while others expressed opposition to DEI initiatives and called for discontinuation.
Concerns existed about the diversity of senior leadership and speaker selection, as well as the
need for increased accessibility and practical changes.
One comment summarizes the key
issue facing the DEI Committee today,
"Achieving equity and inclusiveness
without alienating members of
traditional majority communities.
Advancing DEI in the backlash of
the current American political
environment."
The sentiment captured in this
comment related to the pushback
of DEI efforts being felt in many
industries is also reflected in
comments received when discussing
the perception of relevance of the
DEI efforts.
