DAVID HORRIGAN Lifet e Achievement D avid Horrigan is Relativity's Discovery Counsel and Legal Education Director. Fo r o ve r t w o d e c a d e s , D a v i d h a s a d vo c a te d fo r t h e re s p o n s i b l e u s e of advancing technology in the legal profession by sharing the story of legal technology with global audiences. Since reporting from the World Trade Center after the attacks of September 11, 2001, David has written hundreds of articles in the field of legal technology. Soon after the attacks, David and his colleague and mentor, Monica Bay, wrote articles about the human tragedy and legal technology disaster of 9/11. When the Twin Towers went down, all the servers went down as well. It is crucial to remember that 9/11 occurred before the SaaS Era of massive cloud computing. There was no cloud backup when the buildings crashed to the ground. David and Monica captured the critical story of how people collaborated to put things back together again—figuratively and literally. Practitioners forgave deadlines and shared resources. It was a time when being a good person was more important than being a good lawyer. However, in the end, people discovered they could be good lawyers by being good people. After his experience with 9/11, David has passionately dedicated his career and philanthropic spirit to sharing new ideas with people about how they can bring technology into the legal sector. This work includes serving as a volunteer finals judge and brief writer for the Federal Bar Association's Thurgood Marshall National Moot Court Competition. David is serving in his eleventh year as developer and moderator of the Relativity Fest Judicial Panel. For seven years, he has served as developer and moderator of the University of Florida Law E-Discovery Conference Judicial Panel.
