This larger view is called "people-centered" knowledge management. And the philosophy of orchestrating "I know you, I like you, I trust you, now let's collaborate," which is critical in law firm culture and made more difficult in sprawling firms, should be the core "why" of people-centered KM, making it a foundation for a more inclusive, collaborative business environment. A New Vision for Experience Management: Drawing Inspiration from LinkedIn Envision a KM platform for law firms resembling LinkedIn. LinkedIn's mission is to "build and engage with your professional network" and provide "access to knowledge, insights, and opportunities." This platform would provide professionals with: • Experience – Past employment and client projects. • Skills and Growth Areas – Highlighting current and desired competencies. • Unique Perspectives – A spotlight on insights in posts and published content. • Future Goals – What they aspire to achieve or focus on. • Affiliations – Organizations and groups, formal and informal. • Personal Interests – Passions outside the professional realm. • Availability – An update on workload and upcoming availability. This approach values future growth as equally as past experiences and provides a more expansive view of the professional than the impersonal and limited website bio and intranet directory. This benefits professionals across their career spectrum, especially laterals, creating more efficient "This approach values future growth as equally as past experiences and provides a more expansive view of the professional than the impersonal and limited website bio and intranet directory."
