The 2022 survey didn't have many changes in questions as we did a major rework of the survey in 2021 to realign things. At that time we restructured some sections and tried group things in a more logical way. We also modified and/or added several new questions, including a deeper dive into Teams. When we do that, we need a few years of data to refine and fully evaluate whether the changes are resonating. So, for 2022 we were focused on our process. We streamlined the question review process so that only questions that had unexpected or unusual results were discussed in detail. Each member of the team was assigned specific sections and each of them identified the questions that needed detailed analysis by the whole team. In considering questions we considered our members are "normalizing" after a few years of adjustments owing to the pandemic. We kept this in mind when creating or editing questions, e.g., some form of hybrid work is likely here to stay, the move to the cloud was accelerated, etc.) We also added a new member to the team (a business partner) with deep expertise in the security landscape. With his help, we were able to make the security questions, in many cases, more granular to get a clearer picture of how firms are navigating security in their environments. In some cases, this was done with new questions, in others it was done by making some changes to existing answers. It will take another year to fully evaluate the trending from some of these changes, but one item that stuck out was use of MSSPs is consistently growing. In 2019, 59% of respondents indicated None/Not Applicable to the question which managed security services provider(s) (MSSP) does your firm use. In the 2022 survey, that fell to 38%. MFA is also graining more traction – None/Not Applicable was at 10% in 2020 and fell to 2% in 2022. Finally, we did more personalized communications via individual emails from a named account (mine). This resulted in a significantly higher number of respondents in 2022 than in the four or five previous years. an interview with Teresa Morris Laird ILTA's Senior Program Manager (wearer of many hats) Editor's Note: The 2022 Technology Survey was the most successful survey in over half a decade, with the highest number of respondents in recent history. Our Survey team was composed of those who make ILTA, ILTA—members, partners, staff. We wanted to take a moment to share some of the wins from 2022 and take a look ahead. Once again, thank you for participating in the 2022 Survey—we look forward to 2023!
