o matter the industry,
cybersecurity breaches are
part of every news cycle.
There have been incidents
in banking, credit reporting,
e-commerce sites and, yes, eDiscovery vendors.
These incidents have hit close to home this year
for the eDiscovery community. The stark reality of
cyber breaches--combined with the need to respond
to remote work situations due to Covid-19--have
rapidly changed the risk landscape, forcing law
firms and corporations to reevaluate the security
posture of eDiscovery vendor partnerships. If
your organization fails to properly validate that
its vendors use sufficient protections against a
cyber-breach, the risk to reputation and client
relationships is incalculable.
But, where there is risk there is opportunity.
In this climate, it is incumbent on law firms and
corporations to conduct a well-designed evaluation
of eDiscovery vendor security, to validate its own
security practices and to design and build a future-
proofed best practice protocol.
Do I have to? Yes, you
have to. Mitigating risk
in eDiscovery vendor
engagement.
