We will remember 2020 as a year of dramatic and unforeseen changes in our workplaces, at our homes, and in how we interact with each other. We will remember how we skillfully supported our organizations' rapid implementation of a business model likely to become the new standard. ILTA's peer power demonstrated its strength during this period. As the pandemic struck, members and business partners provided programming focused on immediate needs: securely supporting a newly-remote workforce, providing effective remote training, and "keeping it all together" during those first few months. As countries, states, and local governments eased their restrictions, and made the concept of "return to the office" more than an indistinct vision, ILTA shifted its focus forward and announced the Creating the Future Together initiative. The Programming Planning Council, which establishes the annual framework and themes for ILTA programming, swiftly refocused to define and support a new overarching theme: #CreatingTheFutureTogether. During the past month, you have seen the results of this new theme across all programming types, including webinars, roundtables, local virtual meetings, podcasts, articles, and conferences. The PPC identified eight components of #CreatingTheFutureTogether: The Practical Aspects of Workforce Reentry / Return to the Office Tactical content for legal technologists on the challenges of supporting the "return to the office." When Working from Home Becomes the Rule Rather than the Exception Content for organizations that may discover a significant portion of their workforce will not return to the office in the foreseeable future. Boom and Bust in the Practice Mix How do you evolve your technology to support rapid shifts in demand for the types of legal services your organization provides? How will you identify and support the areas that flourish and those that struggle? Creating the Future Together by Paul C. Wittekind and Scott David
