So with that, 2020 certainly takes the trophy for opportunity. How many times have you tried to make real change in your life or work? We've all tried to change many times in many ways – it's hard to make real change! Let's look at the AKDAR model to see if it can help us understand the stages of the process of change. The events landscape, going forward, will forever be changed by COVID-19. This change brings with it a multitude of great things, and while some will take getting use to, others will be smooth as southern fried butter (no kidding that is actually a thing). Many of you attended our LegalSec Summit Virtual Experience conference. This was a quick turnaround with all the world changes and our chosen platform allowed us to 'ease' into the virtual experience. Although a first time for many, speakers quickly adjusted, attendees navigated the familiar 'conference floor', the exhibit hall familiarity allowed attendees to visit booths and ask questions and overall, we learned together how to move forward in this virtually new world. This virtual event not only provided attendees from multiple time zones to attend from the comfort of their own home, but it also allowed more than 50% new attendees the opportunity to attend the event and 20% new attendees that have NEVER before attended an ILTA event, additionally that means 30% Director to C-Level first timers… now that's the prize pig at the county fair! (Surely you've read Charlotte's Web?). This new landscape has brought us to a decision… that going forward, at a minimum… ALL events will have a virtual component and hybrid events will become the norm at ILTA. As reality unfolded, we knew ILTACON 2020 would need a major reimagining to become fully virtual and HOW does one do that quickly and effectually? ILTACON generally is an 18 month planning process, and with the 2020 pivot to virtual and only having a few months, how would we make that happen? From its inception, ILTA's main strength formed from its PEER POWEREDNES… and a change this big, had to be powered by the peers. So beginning in late April Focus Groups from every ILTA walk of life gathered for multiple sessions. We listened to what was most important to you. ILTA staff came together and brainstormed. We took the brainstorming back to the focus groups, reengineered and we are extremely excited to bring to you, beginning August 24th ILTA>ON. I am sure you are thinking… 'What will ILTA>ON look like? What will it offer me?' Knowing that the number one most valuable experience at ILTA>ON was listed as 'networking / relationship building' … building virtual became hard.
