68 W H A T C H A R E A D I N ' This winter, ILTA staff will be spending a few days off, curled up in front of the fire, reading and spending time with their families. ILTA Staff members are reading: Erika Emrick: I just finishing up the Sharing Knife series by Lois McMaster Bujold. I'm on the last book, Horizon. ...the whole series is pretty good. My two other favorite books from this author are Cordelia's Honor and Paladin of Souls, which are from two other worlds. Corey Simpson: What Got You Here Won't Get You There, by Marshall Goldsmith and Mark Reiter; it outlines the impact of day- to-day actions on an organization. I received this book as a wedding gift with a personal note of how the principles in the book apply to personal life as well. Lisa Noll: Just finished reading the How To Be Dead comedy horror series, by Dave Turner. Philip Graybeal: I'm currently reading The Trident Deception by Rick Campbell. Monica Anchondo: I loved reading Yes We (Still) Can: Politics in the Age of Obama, Twitter, and Trump by Dan Pfeiffer, and I read the New York Times and Washington Post to keep up with daily tech and news. Angela Smith Ford: A book I will start to read soon is Brave Enough: Getting Over Our Fears, Flaws and Failures to Live Bold and Free by Nicole Unice. My last book club reading was The Mother of Black Hollywood: A Memoir by Jennifer Lewis. Dave Slade: I'm currently reading a novel called Two-Seven Remainder; it is written by a high school classmate of mine, Matt Hader. Gaynor Senyszyn: I just finished Origin by Dan Brown and just bought Michelle Obama's new book, Becoming. Jim Perrus: ...currently reading Grey Wolf :The Escape of Adolf Hitler, by Simon Dunstan and Gerrard Williams. I had 5 uncles serve overseas in WW2 and my Dad was stateside; reading about and honoring those veterans is near and dear to my heart. Katie Desir: I just opened Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are So You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be by Rachel Hollis; it was recommended to me. Hollis shares her real-life experiences, the good and the bad, and doesn't apologize for them; it's a good motivational read. Brian Balistreri: I really enjoy reading about development, community planning, and architecture, so I often stay in tune with various articles on the Milwaukee Business Journal, BizTimes, etc. For fun, I am reading a book from my wife How to Marry a Finnish Girl, by Phil Schwarzmann since my wife is half Swedish and half Finnish. Finally, I am about to read Strengths Finder 2.0. Beth Anne Stuebe: I highly recommend All Over but the Shoutin' by Pulitzer winner Rick Bragg; it's truly one of the best books I have ever read. Danielle Noon: I just finished a book called, Don't Sweat the Small Stuff at Work by Richard Carlson; it helps you learn to organize your day and have better communication with others. I also am reading No-Drama Discipline by Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson, because of my daughter, "Tori Tornado". And a hat-tip to ILTA's VP of Events, Dawn Hudgins, who recently published TWO new books, Light of the Crescent Moon, and Bold Good: Daily Reflection for Graceful Difference in a Negative World. The entire ILTA Staff wishes you and your family a very happy holiday (reading) season.
