91 I L T A N E T . O R G Introduction ILTA's stakeholders are critical to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force's (DEITF) continued work to foster and build a more inclusive and welcoming organization for the entire community. ILTA believes that it has a role to play in the creation of a more inclusive legal profession for people who face DEI issues. As members of the DEITF, we are particularly interested in learning how we can provide valued and viable resources for our community. We hope that the content the DEITF has produced so far has been helpful in framing the context, concerns, and some of the work to be done. Now, we hope to discover what our community most needs from us as we move into the DEITF's next stage of work. In short, what do you hope to see from the DEITF in the coming months? To help you consider this question, we will recap the work DEITF has done to date and propose some questions to ponder. We hope this opens a continuing and frank discussion among the members of our community and the DEITF. Defining the Stakeholder But first, you may be wondering what we mean by a stakeholder. Although a stakeholder could be any member of ILTA's broad community, in this article we consider a stakeholder to be an individual with an interest or investment in the DEITF 's work. That investment might be as f leeting as listening to a podcast or as deep as guiding the DEITF 's work. A stakeholder could identify as a member of a marginalized group or instead may be an ally or supporter. A stakeholder may be someone who has no direct concern with the work itself, but has broad concern as an ILTA member who takes an interest in the DEITF simply because it is part of ILTA's fabric. Our stakeholders are you, each person who works within a part of ILTA's community and engages with others. Developing an inclusive work environment means taking action and creating a safe workspace where everyone can achieve their full potential. ILTA and our DEI stakeholders believe this is an achievable goal. How DEITF Is Engaging Stakeholders The DEITF has made strides in engaging and learning more about our diverse community. We completed an ILTA Climate Survey to establish a baseline and summarized the survey results in a report. The survey results helped shape our initial direction and initiatives over the past several months. In that time, we have developed resource material and collected content from other organizations doing similar work. We encourage you to engage with this content on our ILTA DEI page and visit it frequently as we will add new content regularly. In addition, the DEITF has reviewed the following resources and recommend them to stakeholders for further education. The Task Force is not, of course, doing this work in a vacuum and has relied on external research and resources to build what we have to date. Welcome to new and engaging content on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from the ILTA DEI Taskforce! Over the next year, our Taskforce will be bringing ILTAns fresh and innovative articles and a brand-new podcast series on DEI.
