There used to be a separation between our online selves
and our offline selves, with soware confined to computers and
smartphones. The explosion of the internet of things (IoT) has
changed this dynamic in a dramatic way. Now our online selves
include our car, watch, thermostats and a whole host of devices
that sit within our houses and offices. While this proliferation of
smart devices brings a heightened level of convenience to our daily
lives, it also makes cybersecurity significantly more critical to
protecting not just our data, but also our physical, offline selves.
