As recently as March, The New York Times ran an article by Mahew Goldstein about big corporate clients "demanding that their law firms take more steps to guard against online intrusions that could compromise sensitive information as global concerns about hacker threats mount." But if you think your smaller firm is off the hook, the New York Law Journal also ran a story on banks puing the same kind of pressure on mid-sized law firms as they do the big firms. All you need is one case or one client that makes you unpopular with any one of the hundreds of hackivist groups and you become a target. ILTA's LegalSEC Summit was conceived in 2012 with you in mind. ILTA is reshaping how our members leverage technology to solve their legal security business challenges. The LegalSEC Summit is the premier annual security event for the International Legal Technology Association. We are redesigning LegalSEC Summit 2018 as a face-to-face experience that will elevate connections and education through custom roadmaps: flexible, personalized pathways for focused audience groups of ILTA members. The custom roadmaps are being developed for three audience groups this year: » Those with modest security resources and minimal or non-existent budgets. » Dedicated security professionals (chief information security office, security directors, security managers).Lawyer and staff departure procedures » Mid-level and senior management with big picture, information technology or information governance responsibility. Our Summit planning commiee, along with a number of thought leaders and representatives of each audience group, are developing educational sessions for each custom roadmap and general sessions that will be valuable to anyone aending the Summit. Here are a few teasers of what is coming: » Pre-summit workshop: The universe of policies and procedures (designing, defining and using them to make the business more solid, evolving them over time) and new considerations in risk management (risk assessments, working in hybrid environments, disaster recovery, business continuity, change control, vendor management). » Roundtables/Think Tanks/Ask the Expert: We will have deep dive interactive discussions on topics top of mind for each audience group.
