29 WWW.ILTANET.ORG | ILTA WHITE PAPER OFFICE 365 The Proof Is in the Program: Five Office 365 Add-Ins that Transform Text proofreading solutions offer versions for it. The advantage of Office Store add-ins is that they can be used on any device with Office 365 (PC, Mac, iPad and Word online); there's no installation, you just add them from the store; and they update automatically. The downside is that Office Store add-ins are new. Some products could be missing features. In addition, Office Store add-ins typically check documents over a server. Microso has stringent requirements for Office Store products. Every app is veed before it is allowed in the store. But to meet ethical standards always verify that the data protections meet ethical confidentiality requirements. Start Today, Save Time Automated legal proofreading and editing is rapidly developing. New products enter the market monthly. The products reviewed above show the most longevity or promise, but they certainly do not represent every option available. Further, even these new programs are constantly evolving, due in part to Office 365. Keep an eye out for updates: WordRake plans to release a Mac version; Intelligent Editing is adding new functionality to PerfectIt; and Microsystems plans to introduce a beta version of its litigation-focused solution (called Litigation Companion) this year. But don't sit on the sidelines and wait for these developments! Deadlines are tight, proofreading is time consuming, and you can benefit from these programs now. Each product offers a free trial and none require a long-term commitment. All these programs are inexpensive when compared to the time and money that is wasted on proofreading manually. Review the table to see what features are right for you. ILTA IVY B. GREY Ivy B. Grey is the author of American Legal Style for PerfectIt. Ms. Grey is also a Senior Attorney at Griffin Hamersky LLP.
