21 WWW.ILTANET.ORG Keepers of the Knowledge In managing the electronic closing binder collection, the KR team compiles the binders, classifies content for proper retrieval and ensures that security is in place for internal systems and for sharing binders with clients or external parties. In managing the key know-how collection, the KR team monitors Knowledge Bank content to ensure that it has been appropriately classified. This facilitates accurate retrieval for users and ensures that it remains current and relevant. The collections the KR team oversees require proper storage of the content or information and platforms for users to retrieve the content or information. This team handles accurately profiling content in the firm's document management system to ensure its proper retrieval through enterprise search, while not duplicating information in other firm systems. Continuous improvements are made to the various collections' platforms to enhance both findability of content and user satisfaction overall by regularly evaluating metrics around inventory, creations and usage. Maintenance of these collections also requires the KR team to create relevant policies and procedures, a skill set they have thanks to their legal background. The KR team specifically supports ARMA's Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles of accountability, integrity, protection, compliance, availability and transparency. The experience and skills possessed by the KR team have seamlessly supplemented and supported our overall IG program. The teams share joint ownership of governance over the firm's administrative information, and also work together on various remediation initiatives. The synergy between the KR team and RIG furthers the firm's information governance goals and initiatives. Staying Ahead of the Game According to the AIIM's 2013 Market Intelligence Industry Watch survey, over 50 percent of respondents considered exploiting and sharing knowledge resources to be one of the biggest benefits of good information governance. With the explosion of information, IG's focus on content management will continue to expand for many years to come. We are confident that our alignment of KR and RIG positions us well to meet those challenges head on.
