53 WWW.ILTANET.ORG Drive Superior Lawyer Experiences Through Design Thinking FEATURES meetings this can best be accomplished by asking the "lowest ranking" person to start the discussion and provide input. This approach ensures that that person's views will not be influenced by the views of "higher ranking" participants and should provide the person with the confidence to address the issue being discussed in an open and frank way. Design Thinkers in Action Design thinkers can pick up on and articulate needs. They identify and fill in gaps both large and small that can keep a well-designed solution from running smoothly. Design thinkers think creatively about the way things could or should be completed to improve their own or their client's experience. They have can-do aitudes and are usually stimulated by challenges. How can you draw out design thinkers? They are everywhere, and are oen delighted to be involved with a design project. They are the ones you hear say something like: "It would be nice if it could do X." Put design thinkers together with those articulating their pain points, and you can work magic. It is our imperative to provide an environment optimized for our lawyers, where they can provide superior service to our clients. Design thinking gets us there by puing the lawyer first and enabling our smart colleagues to think "outside of the box" and create intuitive solutions.
