62 PEER TO PEER: THE QUARTERLY MAGAZINE OF ILTA | SUMMER 2017 What future-focused planning are you working on now? I'm trying to keep up with the fast-paced developments in technology for legal and in the industry in general. Will the Internet of Things affect the practice of law? If so, how and how soon? How has volunteering for ILTA helped your professional development? My experience with ILTA has made an enormous difference and propelled my professional development ahead at warp speed. It is by far the best thing I have ever done in my career, and I will be forever indebted to my ILTA experience for not just professional growth but personal growth as well. What is something most ILTA members don't know about you? One thing my ILTA experience has given me is a comfort level around people and (I can't blame ILTA for this) a tendency to overshare to a point of discomfort for my colleagues and friends. ;-) What do you like to do for fun? I love learning. History, science, technology, politics – it's all game for me. I'm an avid reader of mostly nonfiction. And I absolutely love my job – it is fun, and I love the challenges and the people. I also enjoy spending time with family. In this picture, my grand nephews and nieces and I are going tubing. We had a wonderful day on Lake Winnesquarm (where my husband and I have a lake house). P2P Henry Chace Chief Information Officer at Burns & Levinson, LLP Whatcha Readin'? and A Peer to Revere MEMBER RESOURCES Whatcha Readin'? A PEER TO REVERE Our Iceberg Is Melting by John Koer Koer tells an engaging story in the form of a fable that should be read by anyone who works in an organization that handles change poorly. –– Susanne Jewell of WilmerHale How Stella Saved the Farm: A Tale About Making Innovation Happen by Vijay Govindarajan and Chris Trimble For anyone involved in innovation, particularly in seing up new business models within their firm, this is an easy must-read. –– Mara Nickerson of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP Younger Next Year by Chris Crowley and Henry Lodge Your body doesn't have to start a gradual decline when you reach 50. Exercise, healthy eating and social activity can turn back your biological clock and keep you doing the things you love into your 80s. This book is a fun, easy to read, life-changing model for enjoying the "next third" of your life. –– Peter Prekeges of Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson, P.S. The Vanishing American Adult: Our Coming-of-Age Crisis and How to Rebuild a Culture of Self-Reliance by Ben Sasse This is a great book that describes the issues of perpetual adolescence, but doesn't point the finger at any one person or issue. I've referred many people to read this book, and everyone has loved it. –– Kevin Svec of Sanders & Parks, P.C. The Attention Merchants by Tim Wu Who owns the digital information about me? Do I? With the electronic privacy landscape constantly in flux, knowing who pulls the switches behind the scenes is important and fascinating! Tim Wu is an outspoken expert, technologist, and professor of law at Columbia Law School. He coined the phrase "network neutrality" and is one of the most interesting people to follow on Twier (@SuperWuster). I highly recommend this book! –– Philip Weldon, CEDS | WilmerHale The ILTA community abounds with avid readers. Here are some recent recommendations. ILTA Service: Talent Council, Member Liaison, Past member of the Board, Past Regional Vice President
