70 PEER TO PEER: THE QUARTERLY MAGAZINE OF ILTA | SPRING 2017 Angela: We wanted a CEO who understood the value of the membership and could mentor and develop staff. We repeatedly returned to the words culture, peer- powered and family feel. Chris E.: Being a member of ILTA's Program Planning Council and the search commiee has expanded my awareness of ILTA's future needs. ILTA's needs are something I think about with some regularity both in my volunteer roles and as I try to expand membership. Though you have been actively involved in ILTA for some time, what did you learn about ILTA during the selection process? Meredith: I was reminded of the great leaders within the organization, both past and present, and how far this organization has come. Angela: I was re-reminded of the passion and commitment our members and staff have for ILTA. We are so fortunate to have an engaged membership. Michele: Going into the process, I was incredibly proud of where ILTA is today. I still feel this way, and the search process helped me realize ILTA has yet-to-be- tapped opportunities. Chris B.: I learned what an amazing opportunity ILTA has to build on a strong foundation and grow the organization along multiple dimensions to deliver even greater value to many more companies, firms and individuals. ILTA Names New CEO: The People, The Process and ILTA's Bright Future ASK THE EXPERT How does your current role in the profession effect your thoughts on ILTA today and how ILTA should evolve? Chris E.: My role has me very involved with my firm's clients and creating competitive advantages for my firm. These responsibilities are at ground zero for some challenges ILTA is facing and the potential ILTA has to grow and evolve. Angela: As Director of Practice Innovation, I am always looking for opportunities to make improvements and increase participation. I view ILTA through the same lens. As the business of law changes, members' needs will change. ILTA must remain agile while continuing to provide the value it does today. Chris B.: I'm involved in both talent management (aorney recruiting, training, diversity, work allocation) and practice management (knowledge management, pricing and project management). ILTA provides great learning opportunities in my areas and should continue to do so. Next, ILTA should seek to expand into new regions, service offerings and roles. Michele: My career experience has given me a global firm perspective, and I've been a part of ILTA's global expansion. I look forward to working with Dan and want to learn from his insights on the challenges of international growth. I have a passion for connecting with various opportunities and groups, as does Dan. He has exciting ideas to expand our perspective, reference points and connection opportunities. Bob: The delivery of technology is changing and ILTA must change with it. The changes can be seen with the increase in diverse programming across non-technical areas and additional professional development opportunities. Skip: While our legal technology community has always worked together on the rapidly changing technology landscape, now we are facing an additional changing landscape. The legal services profession is changing globally. There is a greater need to look at the future of legal services and how we leverage technology. The need for ILTA is greater than ever. Looking over the horizon, what do you see of note for ILTA and the legal profession?
