Contact Marlet at support@scrolldigital.com. AI and the Law: Expectations for an Ever-Changing Workplace AI and the Law: Expectations for an Ever-Changing Workplace Human or Bot? One key concept in AI and machine learning is that any mechanism or role in the system can be provided by either a bot or a human agent. This allows for the creation of chains of functionality that combine the cognitive and analytic abilities of soware services and humans in any required combination. In practical terms, this means you can have humans addressing tasks in which they are uniquely proficient and move other tasks into the machine space. This allows humans to tackle tasks at the next level of complexity. As work processes become cleaner and more efficient, you will see beer time management and, thus, more productivity. Departments such as knowledge management, cybersecurity and data analytics will continue to expand, creating new roles and positions. Beyond Automation AI and machine learning will go beyond automation to help firms understand how data can create value with real-time projections, more tailored responses to requests for proposals (RFPs) and predictive intelligence around business development efforts. As AI is implemented in your firm, the most important skill to hone is how to engineer novel solutions to create the optimal balance between machine automation and elevating human capital. But you need to get the technologies in place to realize gains. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning were phrases echoing through ILTACON 2016, and for good reason: They present many new possibilities for professionals to embrace change. With the augmentation of automated processes, legal support professionals who help lawyers become fluent with machines will be in high demand. by Richard Boyd, Marlet Edwards and Will Jarvis WILL JARVIS Will Jarvis is the Director of Marketing at SZL, a machine-learning company.
