7 WWW.ILTANET.ORG From ILTA's Leadership MESSAGES This app-focused magazine provides a great lineup of content and a bonus of vocabulary expansion (and you're thinking "Words with Friends" has that covered). As I read about "Splunk" and "Waze," I began to fantasize about the merger of Waze and Uber to create "Waze and Meanz." Apps live everywhere, and our contributors focus on them from a desktop or mobile view, in the cloud or offline. And securing the data that move across those apps is critically important. It's not surprising that many of the articles have technical depth; and much of the content is provided by folks with first-hand experience in installing and supporting the applications that sustain our businesses, improve our processes, differentiate our offerings, strengthen our communications and keep us moving forward. Yeah, we've got your ways and means right here. I extend my gratitude to our generous contributors, and I'm excited to showcase many of our Distinguished Peer Award recipients who comprise our panel for this issue's "Ask the Expert" column. This spring edition of the magazine gets our annual publication lineup off to a brisk start with a style makeover and fabulous content. Enjoy, and tell a friend about ILTA and your favorite app! Messages RANDI MAYES Executive Director randi@iltanet.org From The Director MEREDITH L. WILLIAMS ILTA President mlwilliams@bakerdonelson.com From The President Spring has sprung at ILTA, and we're seeing the blossoming of our new programming framework as we're now six months into the volunteer structure overhaul that supports the excellent programming available to you. Our March Board of Directors meeting took a strong focus on continued maturity of our processes for nomination and election. We tasked ourselves with examining the best practices of our sister associations and the nonprofit community at large in several key areas: knowledge, skills and aributes of Board candidates and nominating commiee members; nominating commiee selection/ appointment processes; Board candidate veing processes; slate vs. ballot voting; and the communication plan for our nomination and election cycles. Besides our exploration of best practices in these areas, we continually undergo critical examinations of our own leadership roles and how we develop as a governance Board, one that sets the vision for the organization's future and serves as stewards of the culture. We'll continue to report our recommendations on the key areas above. With the spring season comes our announcement of registration for many of our key events, including our popular LegalSEC Summit 2016, the 2016 SharePoint || Office 365 Symposium and our annual premier event, ILTACON 2016. I'm hopeful to see many of you at these events and at the many wonderful offerings from our sister associations. There are great opportunities for education and networking on the horizon, and I'm hopeful you can take advantage of them. Tell a colleague about ILTA's events! Read this issue on the go!
