We keep an eye on key areas of technological transformation, such as mobility, cloud computing, on-demand IT and overall consumerization. We are leading-edge not just in terms of test-driving and implementing new technologies but also in matching those new technologies and processes with the firm's overall strategy and business objectives. Our recent push forward with an ambitious "paper-light" approach as part of a broader electronic filing (e-file) initiative is a recent example of such business and technology transformation. Before this transformation could occur, the IT foundation had to be addressed. Core IT systems such as infrastructure, servers and networks had to be replaced, and soon the firm saw improvements in stability and performance, creating confidence that we could take on more strategic challenges.
