Electronic Document Management To Go Paper-Light
While the firm's legal legacy is steeped in tradition, our IT leadership takes a proactive approach
when it comes to technology. We keep an eye on key areas of technological transformation, such as
mobility, cloud computing, on-demand IT and overall consumerization. We are leading-edge not just in
terms of test-driving and implementing new technologies but also in matching those new technologies
and processes with the firm's overall strategy and business objectives.
Our recent push forward with an ambitious "paper-light" approach as part of a broader electronic
filing (e-file) initiative is a recent example of such business and technology transformation.
Before this transformation could occur, the IT foundation had to be addressed. Core IT systems
such as infrastructure, servers and networks had to be replaced, and soon the firm saw improvements
in stability and performance, creating confidence that we could take on more strategic challenges.
London-based Farrer & Co has a rich 300-plus-year history of advising clients on
legal matters and today has a staff of over 400.
