WWW.ILTANET.ORG 15 A complete assessment should include eight components of security architecture design: Identity Management: Authorizing users to access data and providing user services Physical Security: Protecting the data center and regulating access controls Network Security Architecture: Configuring and managing firewalls, virtual private networks and Wi-Fi SIEM Architecture: Logging, archive retention and correlation Host Security Architecture: Vulnerability scanning, patch management and device control Application Security: Web app scanning, Web app firewalls and penetration tests Data Security: Email encryption, file encryption and data leak protection Cryptography: Key-generation for data encryption/decryption, key escrow so an authorized third party can access encryption/decryption keys and a hardware security module managing digital keys that authenticate accounts linked to individuals or corporations After the assessment has been completed, you should have a detailed report showing how your organization is doing in terms of risk management, where it needs improvement and what it needs to do to achieve tighter security. The report should include a plan for improving the structure and security of your network infrastructure and a high-level road map prioritizing security efforts over the next few years to help organize remediation and maintenance efforts. Your network might currently stand on shaky ground, but the right security architecture remediations can prevent the business from toppling over. Link2DMS Looking for better ROI from your DMS?
