PEER TO PEER: THE QUARTERLY MAGA ZINE OF ILTA 26 baseline of data, rolling out the platform and tracking the utilization over the course of a month with no tweaks or alterations — just observation. After the positive feedback from the pilot program, I was looking forward to gathering big utilization numbers and seeing which areas I could tailor or augment for cycle two. I released the parking break and slowly stepped on the gas. WHEN REALITY HITS THE ROAD The data collected over the first month showed a piddling amount of e-learning utilization. It made no sense! I had followed best practices, done proper messaging and provided great content. Where did I go wrong? under my belt, I was poised to notify the firm that "learning central" was open for access. It was time to make education mobile! Not so fast. At that time, I was also starting a master's program in learning technologies, exploring adult motivation and human- centered design. We were jumping into the future by offering a portal containing over 500 e-learning modules created by Traveling Coaches and reference information from multiple departments within the firm. With a learning management system (LMS) hosted by Profiscience and a successful pilot program SMART MOVES About the Author Simon Petrie is an IT training manager who develops and administers new hire training, skills enhancement training, IT rollouts and the firm's e-learning platform. E-Encouragement How Self-Reflection, Games and Personalization Can Reshape Education How do we deliver skill set advancement to a workforce that already has a full plate? Many firms champion e-learning as the solution, but much better results are gained by looking past the screen and placing personal relevance and meaning at the forefront of the educational experience.
