legal department:
Hire the Right People: You won't
be able to move up the value chain
without the right people, which
likely means you need to hire at least
one person that has deep business,
analytics and project management
skills. That person might not have ever
worked in a legal department before,
but that's okay.
Be Patient: Moving up the maturity
curve won't happen in six months,
although there might be a few quick
wins that allow you to prove value
quickly. This will be an iterative
process of looking at your legal
data and refining and evolving your
capabilities.
Ask for Advice: Talk to peers
you know and trust in other legal
departments to find out what
platforms and tools to use. And
choose your partners wisely.
