PEER TO PEER: THE QUARTERLY MAGA ZINE OF ILTA 68 orders, declarations, testimony and any associated work product instantly accessible to all team members in one place. Subgroups of users can limit materials to a designated set of individuals. And users can send email notifications with a single click to alert team members about new materials or annotations or commentary. The features of these workspaces focus on the tasks performed in everyday casework: • Users can create unlimited virtual binders organized by category, chronology, witness or any other principle without having to print or copy a single document • Documents appear the same as they would on paper, and there are tools for highlighting and underlining passages and for making annotations • Hyperlinks can be created with a single click to make connections among selected passages of all documents, transcripts and research • Team members can engage in real-time discussions online and view the materials under discussion simultaneously • Advanced search techniques can be used to locate and organize materials • Any work product saved in the workspace can be archived and reused in other matters BRINGING COLLABORATION INTO THE COURTS It's no longer convincing to argue that the technology to make e-litigation and paperless trials a realistic possibility does not yet exist. It does. The maturity of cloud-based computing and the emergence of electronic collaborative workspaces for legal teams can now address many of the barriers that have hindered previous efforts to bring U.S. courts into the 21st century. Concerns about cost, scalability and ease of use have been answered decisively, and the proof lies in cases like the Abramovich trial, where a virtual collaborative workspace was deployed on a massive scale with remarkable success. It shouldn't be surprising: While legal trials are still intensely adversarial by nature, our collective experience with the evolution of legal technology and the body of legal protocols that have evolved alongside it demonstrate that efficient collaboration among all parties is essential when gathering, sorting and intelligibly presenting evidence in the courtroom. FEATURES Hyperlinking is perhaps the most striking example of new efficiencies e-litigation can bring to a commercial trial, especially when you imagine the time and effort attorneys would have spent leafing through binders and papers to find documents and establish logical connections. watch for more information at insight.iltanet.org 20 15 12 NOVEMBER 2015 etc. venues · London AMAZING 10 TH ANNIVERSARY CONFERENCE AMAZING 10 TH ANNIVERSARY CONFERENCE AMAZING 10 TH ANNIVERSARY CONFERENCE • Everything that's good about ILTA, developed in the United Kingdom • Hear from clients, academics and experts from outside the legal industry • Topics include: Innovation, Future of Law, Bridging IT and Business, Cybersecurity, Litigation Support, Change Management and Knowledge Management
