MEMBER RESOURCES We're empowering iPad users with application access via Citrix, and it works great. We also introduced RSA two-factor hard token authentication with our Citrix gateway. So far, feedback is good (as long as expectations are set that just because you can bring something up via Citrix on the iPad, doesn't magically turn it into an "app"). Most of the viewing/content-consumption tasks go over pretty well (calendaring, documents and time entry). A few are intrigued by downloading PDFs locally and using iAnnotate, but we don't have widespread iTunes availability on the desktop yet, so it's few and far between. It should be interesting to see what Apple does in terms of enabling an IT-managed or corporate iCloud for moving files around ... or perhaps a VMware-type of solution as we're starting to see with IP softphones. ILTA's 2011 Technology Survey provides an interesting snapshot of the growing tablet population in law firms. Which tablet devices are in use at your firm? (multiple responses allowed) Apple iPad/iPad2 None We are considering a tablet + desktop combination as an alternative to laptops for our attorneys. We think the combination might have an appeal for some of our senior partners who spend less time creating content. We don't view the tablet as a replacement for a laptop by itself, but instead as a mobile companion. Dave Rigali Chief Information Officer Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi, L.L.P.
