Do yourself the same favor. Get your prep work done well in advance so that, in the two weeks prior to going live, you are able to focus on getting the staff trained — leaving time to handle unexpected issues that pop up. This cannot be stressed enough. Stay on top of your game and keep everyone on top with you. If you have done the preliminary work, the checklist is complete, employees are excited and you're just waiting for that first login to get started, you'll cross that finish line feeling good. TM PUSH THROUGH THE FINISH LINE Sprinters are trained to run through the finish line, never letting up speed until they are well past the white stripe. While going live is the finish line (of sorts), don't quit until you're well past that point. Continue to check in with people throughout the firm to encourage adoption. If people aren't using the system, find out why, and show them how it could benefit them. Be patient — there will be problems, but they will get solved and, in the end, you'll have a better system than what you had before. Make the most of your new software, embrace it, and others will embrace it as well. Keep the good feelings going. You wouldn't run a marathon without training for it, so be sure to step up to the starting line fully prepared for your implementation. Don't try to find time to train — make time, and you will cross the finish line as a winner! ILTA
