PEER TO PEER: THE QUARTERLY MAGA ZINE OF ILTA 86
How will security affect legal organizations in the long term?
Paul: Security will continue to help protect organizations from
attackers. As long as a malicious actor is attempting to exploit a
vulnerability or an unsuspecting employee's trust in order to obtain
something of value, everyone must be vigilant. Unfortunately, attacks
will continue for the foreseeable future. That could affect the bottom
line of law firms and many other organizations.
Sherri: Security will be a good thing for legal firms in the long term.
Our clients are asking us to be more secure, and it's making the
legal industry take notice of what needs to be done to ensure client
information is secure. Law firms want to be thought of as being
security-minded.
Jamie: From an organizational standpoint, security will continue to
evolve the structure of technology and risk management groups, and
where the information security team resides — whether under the
CIO, general counsel, risk management or professional responsibilities,
every organization will be different. The ultimate goal is to find the
places where the security team can be the most effective at managing
risk across the organization.
