inside iLTA Peer Group Restructuring Earlier this year, ILTA’s Board of Directors, as part of their ongoing strategic review of the association, approved a plan that reduces the number of peer groups from 17 to 12, with a focus on peer groups that better reflect topical areas of interest. This plan, which will go into effect following our annual conference, consolidates vendor-based peer groups with existing peer groups or creates new topical peer groups to encompass them. At its foundation, the plan embraces the concept of a “place” for all programming interests. BENEFITS/OUTCOMES OF THE PLAN This new structure is more sustainable and resilient to vendor consolidation, elimination and name changes, and is more responsive to programming interests across all product and vendor categories. The new structure creates opportunities for an even more dynamic conference program with more flexibility to focus on key trends. It very much aligns with conference planning and its team approach. Finally, it promotes continued allegiance to the key core values of providing independent, unbiased and accurate information to members and maintaining vendor independence. The result is a sustainable peer group structure that is more aligned with the needs of our members, our mission and our values. As a member, you will continue to receive notices about programming in the peer groups for which you’ve opted in. Check out the details of the 12 “new” groups, as well as detailed information about the restructuring plan from our website at www.iltanet.org | Members | Peer Groups. You can visit the peer group pages of our website to see the volunteer leadership and the slate of programming offered by each group. ABOUT E-GROUPS We recognize the value of our existing virtual communities, and those remain largely unchanged. We will be adding some additional groups to align with the new peer group structure, but you’ll still find vendor-based e-groups as they exist today. If you have questions regarding this change, please contact the Board Liaison to Peer Groups, Michele Gossmeyer at mgossmeyer@mayerbrown.com. ILTA PEER GROUPS The 12 peer groups that emerge from the consolidation and realignment are: • Communications Technologies • Desktop and Application Services • Emerging Technologies • Enterprise Content Management • Financial Management • Knowledge Management • Law Department • Litigation and Practice Support • Professional Services • Risk and Records Management • Server Operations and Security • User Support Services 94 www.iltanet.org Peer to Peer
