Within her firm, Karen translates vision into action. She has led the development of firmwide cybersecurity training, guided ISO 27001 certification efforts, and implemented responsible AI use policies. By partnering with industry leaders such as LexisNexis, she ensures that attorneys and staff are equipped with the knowledge to use technology ethically and effectively. Her leadership reinforces a culture where innovation and accountability go hand in hand. Beyond institutional leadership, Karen is deeply committed to education and outreach. She regularly speaks at national conferences and leads initiatives addressing issues such as cyberbullying, deepfakes, and digital harm -- ensuring that not only legal professionals but also schools, families, and communities are informed about evolving risks. In academia, her work with the University of South Carolina has been transformative. As an adjunct professor and founder of its Cybersecurity Institute and Task Force, she has helped shape the next generation of lawyers to be fluent in both legal doctrine and technological realities. Equally impactful is her dedication to mentorship. Through national organizations and initiatives like the International Women's Cyber Alliance, Karen actively champions women in legal technology -- opening doors, amplifying voices, and creating pathways to leadership in a field where representation remains uneven. She also founded and chaired USLAW Network's Cybersecurity and Privacy Practice Group. USLAW Network includes 80 independent member firms that provide jurisdiction-specific insight and connect clients with leading trial and transactional counsel wherever they operate.
