enerative AI (GenAI)
has moved from small
innovation groups
and isolated pilots
into everyday tools like Zoom's
AI summaries and the Microsoft
Copilot embedded in their Office
applications. Across core legal
workflows, GenAI now assists
with tasks like drafting, research,
and ediscovery. We see growing
expectations from partners and
corporate leaders to adopt it and
deliver efficiency gains.
As adoption rises, so do headlines
about preventable missteps or
governance failures. Many legal
teams default to caution—pausing
rollouts, tightening access, or
simply waiting to see how peers
respond. Surveys found more
than one-quarter of attorneys
noted that ethical alignment was
a key factor when considering
investments in GenAI tools
at their organization (https://
www.americanbar.org/groups/
law_practice/resources/law-
technology-today/2025/the-
legal-industry-report-2025/).
Additionally, 77% of lawyers
remain concerned about AI
producing inaccurate outputs
